Taourirt Kasbah

The Taourirt kasbah is the most important historical building in Ouarzazate. In 1754, Amghar(commander in berber) Hammad, one of the rich men in his time built the palace near the river of Ouarzazate.
The kasbah has two main doors, the northern door "emi nanran in berber" which is the main entrance of today that leads to the king square, a very known space that hosts AHOACH(type of berber music) concerts. The south eastern door known as “emi nandaf” or the door of the guards very known of its tower which is relatively high.
Along history, the kasbah played a major military and commercial role due to its strategic location next to the Valley, and today the kasbah is a major tourist destination where cultural activities like concerts, specials events, and seminars are held.
The kasbah is classified as a Heritage of a human world by UNESCO.
