Zawiya of Sidi Hamza in Midelt is a privileged tourist location in the middle Atlas Mountains along Mount AIyashi, the highest mountain peak. The traditional construction of the Kasbah is an architectural heritage, it is characterized by its simplicity, the materials used like wood of local trees, clay, and stone. And the breakthrough of watercourses between alleys and houses forming a wonderful beauty of this Kasbah who still resist for 400 years despite the various natural factors.
The zawiya was founded by Sidi Mohamed ibn Abi Bakr during the seventeenth century AD. The library was founded by his son Sidi Abu Salem AlAyachi in 1645. It has 840 manuscripts and 1,400 rare books of different work of sciences of great scholars, philosophers, and writers from North Africa and the East. All manuscripts copied in the original Moroccan writing script. The collection of Abu Salim is made through trips and travels and his love of science, it becomes an intellectual reference for researchers and people seeking knowledge. Visiting this ancient stronghold of knowledge is strongly encouraged to unveil the cultural history in the region as in the country in total.
