Agadir "Ouflla" or castle EL pico as it was named by the Portuguese, is a very know place for visitors even though did not yet received adequate care despite its long history.
The castle is located on the top of a mountain 236 meters above sea level northern of Agadir. Founded in 1540 by Sultan Mohammed Sheikh Saadi, the goal of this position was to beat the Portuguese who settled at the foot of the mountain since 1470. This strategy made it easy to take control of the "Santa Cruz" castle in 1541, after that the importance of the castle was diminished.
In 1960 the earthquake has destroyed its neighborhood, even though it is been forgotten and abandoned, the place still has great historical and symbolic value for locals.
