The Old Medina(City) of Casablanca

The Old City of Casablanca is located near the port and has long history. Even though most of the walls surrounding the city were demolished during the 1775 earthquake, some parts are still alive especially the Atlantic Ocean side. This neighborhood also has several main doors; the most famous is Bab Marrakesh.
This neighborhood didn’t lose its attractiveness despite city expansion; shops selling traditional products still engaging a lot of visitors to this place.
The Consuls neighborhood is the most important part of the city, this where the Europeans used to settle in the nineteenth century for its commercial fame. The old city also contains a historic church built by the French in 1891, also contains the Jewish neighborhood which some part of it have been demolished in the thirties by the French colonizers to build the Square of France.
